A network switch is a device that combines many small computers in a Local Area Network (LAN). Technically, network switches operate at layer two (data link layer) of the OSI model.Network switches appear nearly identical to network hubs, but a change of control for more information (and a slightly higher price tag) than a hub. Unlike hubs, switches whose test data packets as they are received to determine the source and destination device for each packet, and forwarding them accordingly. By only to save the messages to the device connected to a network switch, network bandwidth and offers generally better performance than a hub.
